I’m a bit of a voyeur. I don’t mean just watching others have sex in porn – I certainly won’t turn a blind eye if I see a couple sharing a kiss or grope in public, or even where they don’t think they can be seen. It’s definitely a thrill, and I looked forward to reading Hide and Seek (Erotic Tales of Voyeurs and Exhibitionists), one of the Sexis Naked Reader Book Club selections for March.

Hide and Seek is an erotic collection published by Cleis Press in 2007, with a new forward from Jo Weldon in 2010. It’s an oversized paperback with a shiny cover and holds 187 pages. It has 21 stories, a forward and two introductions, as well as about the authors and editors sections. The book is edited by Alison Tyler and Rachel Kramer Bussel, two women whose stories I’ve enjoyed in other collections.

Jo Weldon is the founder and headmistress of the New York School of Burlesque, and she’s worked with a variety of performers. She’s even been featured on television news magazines and TV shows. In Jo’s forward, she talks about what fuels passion and imagination, and how it’s often what leads to the sexual encounter that makes it so satisfying. She also tells about her early experiences with masturbation and her troubles finding a private place, which led to her releasing her fear of being caught and enjoying both watching and being watched.

Alison Tyler has written over 25 erotic novels and edited over 50 anthologies. In her introduction, she talks about how, as a writer, she’s always watching, whether what she sees is related to sex or not. She introduces the stories here as a way to safely eavesdrop on the sexual exploits of others.

Rachel Kramer Bussel is the editor of over 50 erotica collections, and she’s written for other publications as well. She introduces the stories by talking about how they show both voyeurs and exhibitionists in new ways, and talks about how writers are all exhibitionists of one sort or another.

Most of the stories in this collection are quite good, and rather arousing. They are told from both points of view (voyeur and exhibitionist), and a few are from the male viewpoint. The encounters are mostly heterosexual, although a few feature just women or men.

The stories feature a wide variety of situations: chance meetings between strangers, an auditioning aspiring porn star, cab sex, and sex for an unknown watcher behind a telescope are only a few of the erotic encounters here. From sex in front of a crowd to sex at the opera, sex in a public park to sex seen from a roof, and even a masturbation display by a wife for her husband are all enticing and exciting stories in the pages of this book.

Some of the stories I found most erotic and arousing include:

“Counting the Days” by Saskia Walker She’s a temp in an office, and that Friday she sees a window washer outside. His scribbled note to wear a shorter skirt for next time excites her, and the two play a game on Fridays of teasing and tempting each other. Can the window washer restrain himself from making contact? Can she?

“Red Light, Green Light” by Shanna Germain Danny’s given her a most unusual gift – he’s rented his wife a window in Amsterdam’s Red Light District. She knows he’s watching, and when she puts herself on display it doesn’t take long for a man she sees and desires to come up to her window. Danny’s watching as she invites him inside. Will she make the most of this present?

“A Girl, Two Guys, and a Sex Toy” by Kristina Wright It’s New Years Eve, and she’s just broken up with her boyfriend. Her neighbors come over to celebrate the new year and so do two of her good friends, Kevin and Michael. They talk, reminisce, and drink in her bed, and things are pretty platonic until Michael finds a big dildo her friend has given her to get over the breakup. She’s drunk and horny, and gives the guys a show while she tries it out for the first time. Will it be a Happy New Year?

“Peeping Tom, Dick, and Harriet” by Michelle Houston Stacie is a closet exhibitionist, and her girlfriend Amy has convinced her to have sex in a peep show room where every window is a one-way street and the watchers can’t be seen. I love Pin Up girl art, whether vintage or more recent. I think they express a lot of exuberance and radiate fun. When the Pin Ups Collectible Gift Set became available at Babeland, I knew I had to get my hands on one.

The Pin Ups Collectible Gift Set comes in a small, clear plastic case with the tin visible through the front. The back of the plastic has some information about the kit contents. There are 3 Pin Ups sets, featuring Nancy, Betty, and Ruby, and each has a different colored Super Sparkle bullet. I received the Nancy tin, which comes with a silver bullet (Betty’s is gold, and Ruby’s is red).

The tin is about 4 1/4" by 3 1/4", and black. The front has Nancy in a cute little black and pink outfit, and the words “Pin Ups” as well. The back is solid black. Inside the tin are the Super Sparkle Bullet, Bombshell Balm, and an extra N battery resting in foam. The foam is removable. The tin is really cute, and could be used to store other small items than the vibrator and balm.

The Bombshell balm is in a cute round tin that looks like a lip gloss container. It has a picture of Ruby on the front (this seems to be the same no matter which tin you get). The balm fills about 1/2 the container, and is white. It has a waxy surface, but rubs out oily onto your finger. It has a pleasant citrus scent, which isn’t super strong but is noticeable.

The balm is used to increase the sensitivity of your clit with cooling sensation. Simply work your finger around the surface of the balm (you'll have to apply pressure to get enough to use), then apply on and around your clit, or apply it to the bullet before using it. This balm is a cooling balm, and not super strong, but you will definitely feel the sensation.

The balm contains Sweet Almond Oil, Grape seed Oil, Beeswax, Shea Butter, Capric Triglyceride, Cacao Butter, Peppermint Oil, Tocopheryl Acetate, Propylparaben, Soybean Oil, Jojoba Seed Oil, Tocopherol, Avocado Oil, Isopropyl Acetate, Bisabolol, phenoxyethenol, Wheat Bran Extract, Matricacaria Flower Extract, Fucus Vesiculosus Extract, Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract, BHT, Linoleic Acid, Limonene, and Linalool.

The bullet I got is silver, and it’s shiny and textured. It’s 3 1/4" long and about 1/2" wide, with 2 1/4" that could be inserted. The bottom unscrews and the bullet holds 1 N battery. One is already inserted with a paper between the battery bottom and the connector in the cap – an extra battery is provided. An O-ring sits between the body and cap to make this waterproof and safe for use in the bath or tub. Make sure to twist the cap securely closed, or water will seep into the battery compartment.

The bottom has a black push button that cycles through 3 speeds: low, medium, and high vibrations. The vibrations are buzzy, and moderately strong. While the bullet is pretty noisy when it’s not in contact with you, when it is the sound is diminished and the vibe can’t be easily heard. It’s made of Metallic-coat ABS Plastic, and can be cleaned with antibacterial soap and warm water. Silicone or water-based lubricants can be used.

So, Did It Work? I adore the tin for this set! I love the pin-up artwork on the front, and it makes a great storage container for small items. The balm is interesting. This is the first cooling type of clitoral stimulation product I’ve tried (I just recently tried a warming one), and it’s quite a different sensation. It’s a bit tingly, and not unpleasant. What I wasn’t crazy about was trying to get it out of the container. My finger worked okay by pushing in to get a dab, but I couldn’t get enough by just running my finger on the surface like I had hoped. Using the actual bullet did make it easier, but I found it worked better if I rubbed it in versus leaving it on the bullet end. I’m not sure that it made me more sensitive, but it felt cooling and different. I am hoping that as I use more out of the tin, it will be easier to get out.

The bullet in this kit works pretty well. It’s not super strong, but it has decent enough power, especially when used with other toys. The texture was more noticeable in my hand then during use, which was fine by me. The battery life is pretty decent, and I love that you get a spare!

Can't Fight This Feeling

I’ve been reading a variety of erotica lately. Most of the books have been theme-centered, and a lot of them have been fun reads, presenting some ideas that we’ve either tried to act out or hope to try out. In February, I got to read two selections of the Sexis Naked Reader Book Club – the first, Passion, was for the most part an incredible read, with some extremely hot stories. The second, Best Lesbian Romance 2011, was a bit different.

Best Lesbian Romance 2011 is published by Cleis Press, and edited by Radclyffe. It contains 17 stories, an introduction, and about sections for both editor and authors in its 200 pages. This is an oversized paperback, with a glossy, understated cover.

Radclyffe, has over 35 novels and anthologies in print. She’s a retired surgeon, and she’s won several awards for her writing. In the introduction she talks about what romance and love are, whether the relationship is just beginning or well into blossoming into something more, and leads into the stories presented in the book.

These stories are fairly romantic and well written, but they aren’t what I’d consider erotica. They’re more along the lines of soft-core stories or light romantic reading with just a hint of sex, for the most part, beyond kissing and an occasional feel. They really focus more on the feelings experienced by the women involved rather than raw sexual arousal. Good to read? Yes. Arousing? No, at least not for me.

The stories are a mix of first and third person tellings, and deal with dates arranged by Moms, new relationships, relationships that are yet to form, and chance encounters that lead to something much more. Whether in an apartment, a slave laundry, or a forest, the women find something special to share with each other.

While there weren’t any stories that I thought were bad or out of place, there were some I enjoyed reading above the others:

“Hearts and Flowers” by Theda Hudson Jen’s not one for hearts and flowers, and her one year anniversary with Gina is coming up. They toss around ideas to celebrate, but what Gina wants more than anything is for Jen to tell her what their anniversary means to her. Can Jen discover what being with Gina means before she loses her for good?

“Lost and Found” by Andrea Dale Lara gets an all-expenses-paid trip to Hawaii, but it doesn’t start out well when the airline loses her luggage. Her friend Jeanne tells another member at the conference about the problem and Evie shows up at her door to help her out. The two hit it off, but Lara’s nervous – she really LIKES Evie. And Evie lives in Hawaii, while Lara’s in Chicago. Can their relationship work?

“Rock Palace” by Miel Rose Taylor wants to take her girlfriend Lilly to visit her farm, but she’s not sure if she should. All her other girlfriends have been too city to appreciate it. Lilly is different, however, and Taylor takes a chance, showing off the country and her special hidey-hole.

The saddest story in this collection is “Dirty Laundry” by Cheyenne Blue. Eileen ends up in a Magdelene Laundry in Ireland, sent there by a priest and her family to be imprisoned. She meets Maura, another lost, imprisoned soul, and over the years they share a tender, hidden love to keep them going. Will they ever be able to escape?

Probably the most unusual lesbian romance tale is “When Hearts Run Free” by Radclyffe writing as L. L. Raand. She was bitten by a rogue werewolf, and now she’s a mutt in the pack. She’s smitten by the pack Alpha, Sylvan, and the feeling is mutual. But in the world of the pack, will a mutt have a chance with a Were born and bred?

Light, Natural, Moisturizing, and Great To Use

While I’ve found several lubricants that I enjoy and that work well, I love to try new ones to see if I’ll have a new favorite, or at least another option for an acceptable one. As natural as possible is always good, so I was happy to receive Blossom Organics Natural Moisturizing Lubricant from Good Vibrations to take for a test drive.

Blossom Organics comes in a purple and white cardboard box, along with a large card with more information on the product. The box also has this information. Inside the box is the tube of lubricant.

The 4 ounce tube is also purple and white, and cleanly designed. It looks like a tube of regular moisturizing lotion or hair care product. It’s suitable to keep in the medicine cabinet or out on the dresser – the logo is larger and towards the top of the tube, while the lubricant wording is smaller and farther down the tube.

I like this style of tube (although I admit I prefer pump tops), where the cap is actually on the bottom. This makes it easy to dispense when the product is running out, without having to squeeze or mangle the bottle to get the product out. The flip cap is easy to open and close.

This lubricant has no scent, and is also flavorless: two good properties. It’s pH balanced to mimic the natural chemistry of a woman, and it has no parabens, silicones, glycerin, petrochemicals, hormones, artificial dyes, flavorings, or fragrances. It’s also non-irritating (although if you experience any discomfort or irritation you should discontinue use) and latex friendly (so it’s safe to use with condoms).

The ingredients are: Organic aloe barbadensis leaf extract, sorbitol, hydroxyethylcellulose, hyaluronic acid, organic stevia rebaudiana extract, tocopherol (vitamin E), sodium citrate, potassium sorbate, organic extracts of paeonia albiflora (peony) root, passiflora incarnate flower.

I found it interesting that stevia was an ingredient – it seems that the sweetener I use in my coffee is showing up all over the place! I think this was probably added to make the taste this lube might have disappear.

While the packaging states that this is a water-based lubricant, water itself isn’t listed as one of the ingredients which I also found interesting.

The lube itself is thicker than a liquid, but runnier than a true gel. If you place a pea-sized drop on your finger it will slowly run down, but stays in place reasonably well. It’s not greasy or tacky and just has a wet feel. It stays wet a long time without getting really sticky, and it’s easy to clean up.

So, Did It Work? I liked this lube for vaginal use, whether with toys or with my partner. It added lubrication nicely, and I didn’t have to reapply it during a session. I liked that it didn’t have any scent, and also that it had no taste. I didn’t care for it for anal use, as I thought it was a bit too thin and didn’t seem to work as well as other lubes I have (that are thicker).

I like the flip top, and the fact that the cap is on the bottom. The only thing I didn’t care for is when you dispense it some of the lube ends up around the hole making it a bit messy, and I feel like I’m wasting some when it ends up being wiped off the cap.

Overall, I found this a good lubricant for vaginal use, and would recommend it.

February is the time for love, with Valentine’s Day a celebration of lovers, both new and old. As such, it was a fitting time to read the SexIs Naked Book Club selection Passion.

Passion (Erotic Romance for Women) is a collection of 20 stories revolving about the passion a man and woman can feel towards each other. Whether old or new, fresh or rekindled, the feelings are strong and overpowering.

This book is an oversized paperback with a glossy cover. Containing 226 pages, it was published in 2010 by Cleis press and is edited by Rachel Kramer Bussel. In addition to the stories, the book contains an introduction by Rachel where she talks about what passion can mean, an about the authors section, and a few pages about the editor.

Rachel is based in New York, and has edited over 30 books of erotica. Her stories have appeared in over 100 anthologies, including this collection. She’s a columnist for SexIs Magazine, the Senior editor at Penthouse Variations, and has written for publications including Playgirl, Penthouse, the San Francisco Chronicle, the New York Post, Newsday, and the Huffington Post. She’s also appeared on television, on the Martha Stewart Show and Family Business. She writes a blog, and has been the host of the In the Flesh Erotic Reading Series since October 2005.

The stories here all embrace the passion two people can feel. Sometimes the passion is newfound and fresh, sometimes it’s ongoing, and sometimes it’s discovered anew and rekindled in long relationships. Both single couples and married couples (and even relative strangers) find intense encounters (and even a daydream) in the pages of this book. The stories are a mix between first and third person tellings, and some deal with different cultures and nationalities. All of the couples are heterosexual.

I enjoyed almost all of the stories in this collection, but several stood out from the others for me:

“Big Bed Sex” by Donna George Storey Staying at the Beverly Hills hotel for the first time, in a room her sister has splurged for while in town for a reading, she wishes her husband could be there. The room calls out for wild, passionate sex ,and they’ve always had hot and wild sex in hotel rooms. He’s tied up in business meetings in another town so she reminisces about past encounters in hotel beds. She sends him a picture of the Arabian love nest she finds herself in. He can’t resist, and joins her for a passionate romp (or two).

“Dear in the Headlights” by Angela Caperton It’s been five months since she and her husband have “done the dirty”, and she is ready to spend a well-thought out and passionate night with her overworked husband. Fate intervenes when he runs off the road on his way home and has to wait for 2 hours for the tow truck to arrive. Cass goes out to meet him and they have wild sex on his car before the tow arrives and they head to their planned rendezvous at the Hilton.

“Third Time’s the Charm” by Charlene Teglia Lynn and Nick have broken up but find themselves stuck in an elevator. The phone doesn’t work, and neither has a cell, but they find a way to rekindle the passion of their relationship in the dark confines of their trap. Is it fate that brought them together, or has Nick arranged this moment to bring them back together for another try?

My favorite story by far was “Five Senses” by Rachel Kramer Bussel. Sometimes familiarity brings rote sex and monotony, and the passion needs to be rekindled. They’re planning to celebrate her husband’s latest booking, but instead of going out, he tells her they’re going to stay in, and all of her senses come alive with the evening he has planned to relight the fire of their relationship.

This is a great collection, and one you’ll enjoy if you like erotica that deals with passionate loving couples (whether they’ve recently met or have been together for years). They may even inspire you with ways to add some extra passion in your own love life. I Just Want Your Extra Time and Your Kiss

Can a girl have enough vibrators? I can’t. I love trying out new ones to see if I’ll stumble upon a new favorite. As part of the Cal Exotics Sexpert program, I get to try a new one about every month, and this month I received the Sweetheart Vibe Pleasure Kiss to review.

The Pleasure Kiss comes in an easy to open plastic case. The toy is visible through the front, and the back (on the insert) has a picture of the product as well as information on the features and use. Inside the case is the vibrator and a small sheet on general battery insertion.

This vibrator is a medium pink color, the shade of bubble gum. It’s accented with a matte silver band above and around the buttons. The insertable portion and the buttons are made out of TPR, while the base is made of plastic. The vibrator has no smell or taste, and is hypoallergenic and phthalates-free. The tip and shaft are matte and have a bit of drag when you run your finger down them. A faint seam runs up the sides, but it’s barely visible and can’t be felt by either your finger or when in use.

The Pleasure Kiss is 8” long, with about 4 1/2" insertable. The tip is curved for g-spot stimulation. On the underside of the tip is a pad about 1 1/4" tall and 1” wide, which is slightly indented and filled with raised, soft nubs for extra stimulation. The shaft features 4 rings that stand out from the shaft for added stimulation during thrusting. At its widest, the shaft is 1 1/2" in diameter, so it’s not too thin to be effective. The shaft is mostly firm, but has just a bit of flex to it. The tip also flexes, but not a lot.

The plastic base matches the shade of the TPR and has a shine to it, although the silver accents are dull. On the front are two heart shaped buttons. The top one, which is upside down, is the on/off button, and has the standard power logo in its center. The bottom button has a lightning bolt and allows you to cycle through the vibration patterns. Both buttons are easy to push. The bottom of the base has a curve and a hole that goes in it. While you can’t stand the Pleasure Kiss up, you could thread a rope or cord through the bottom if you wanted to hang this.

The battery compartment is accessed by twisting the bottom of the base about 1/4 turn counterclockwise. Two AA batteries go in + side first. There’s a clear plastic “tube” inserted in the compartment, which makes the Pleasure Kiss quiet, but also really holds on to the batteries. They aren’t hard to insert, but you’ll have to give it a few good whacks to get the batteries to protrude from the bottom so you can pull them out. The compartment seals fairly tightly, and keeps water out fine in the shower, but when used in the tub it didn’t keep water from getting into the battery compartment. Even though the packaging states waterproof, it’s really a splashproof vibe.

The Pleasure Kiss has 8 patterns of vibration, and interestingly, none of them are steady. This is one of the few vibrators I’ve ever had that didn’t have a steady mode. The patterns are:

- reverberation from low to high
- faster reverberation from low to high
- even faster reverberation from low to high
- a shakier, deeper reverberation from low to high
- fast pulse
- longer fast pulse
- three fast pulses followed by 1 long pulse
- five fast pulses followed by 1 long pulse

The vibrations are fairly deep and throbby, and they are also decently strong.

One really cool feature with this vibrator is that it has a memory chip. Find the pattern you like, and hate to cycle through to find it? No problem. The Pleasure Kiss will restart on the pattern it was on when you shut it off.

Since it’s made of TPR and plastic the Pleasure Kiss is phthalates free, hypo-allergenic, and latex free, and also semi-porous. It’s easy to clean with antibacterial soap and warm water or your favorite toy cleaner. If cleaned right after use, the nubbies aren’t hard to clean at all, but if you wait for any length of time they will be more difficult, and you may want to use a soft bristled brush to clean around them. If you plan on sharing or want to make cleanup easier, a condom can be used. I wouldn’t recommend using this anally due to the lack of flared base combined with the short insertable length. Both silicone and water-based lubricants are safe to use.

So, Did It Work? I like this vibe. While I don’t notice the rings around the shaft, I did feel the nubs on the tip when I was using it, and they felt great when stimulating my g-spot. The Pleasure Kiss was easy to hang on to during use, and I didn’t have any problems pressing the buttons by mistake. This was long enough to hit my g-spot effectively.

I love that this has a memory feature! I hate having to cycle through patterns when I find the one I really like, and it’s great to be able to turn this vibe on and go with the pattern I enjoy the most. There are actually two patterns I like the best on this vibe, the 3 short 1 long pattern, and the 5 short 1 long pattern. Both of them really do the trick for me. I would have preferred this had a steady vibration pattern as well, however, as sometimes I need them steady. I did think the strength was decent, and I liked how the vibrations were more throbby than buzzy. I also liked how quiet this one was.

I wish this actually was waterproof, as I’d love to use this in the tub. Submerging it for just a short time got water in the battery compartment, and while I didn't damage it I'm not going to be trying that again. While it works fine in the shower since the base isn’t submerged, it’s too awkward to use as a g-spot vibrator standing up. It can be used in the shower for clitoral stimulation, but I have stronger shower toys for that and this works better internally than externally for me.

What I really don’t like is how hard it is to get the batteries out! The bottom one comes out with just one whack over my hand, but the top one really seats inside the vibrator, and it takes several whacks to get it low enough to get out.

Overall, this is a fun g-spot vibrator, and you’ll like it if you enjoy moderately strong vibrations, throbby vibrations, and different patterns to choose from, and you don't need a steady vibration setting to get you off.

Happy Hour Just Got Better

Happy hour. It brings to mind hitting the bar, getting two-for-one drinks, and generally partying it up. Sometimes the drinks are mixed (due to me being incredibly indecisive), while other times I can stick to just one type. With the Happy Hour Kit (also called the Sweet Decadence Kit) from Good Vibrations, it’s a bit of the mix – a variety of products and scents to get you relaxed and maybe a bit in the mood, and a great way to try out some of the scents these products are offered in.

The Happy Hour Kit comes with an assortment of products. In this kit are a pomegranate mint bath fizzy, a pomegranate mint massage lotion, a coconut lime massage bar, pina colada lickable oil, mojito lip lube, and a pearl drop vibrator. The scents don’t sound like they go together, and they are an interesting mix to be sure, but overall the items in this kit – whether you use one or a combination – are fun and a non-alcoholic variation of the bar scene, and I found some scents I really enjoyed in this tropical selection.

Pomegranate is one of my favorite fruits, so I started out with the pomegranate mint products. The Knead Me Massage Lotion is nice. It lasts for a while on the skin before it absorbs, and leaves your skin feeling soft and not greasy, as well as scented. This lotion smells, well…good. It’s fruity, but the mint cuts the fruit smell so its not so overwhelmingly sweet. Surprisingly nice! It’s not latex compatible, and contains Water, Emulsifying Wax, Vegetable Oils (Walnut, Almond, Sunflower, Safflower), Cetyl Alcohol, Octyl Palmitate, Caprylic / Capric Triglycerides, Dimethicone, Vitamin E Acetate, Aloe Vera Gel, Cyclomethicone, Phenoxyethanol, Parabens (Butyl, Ethyl, Methyl, Propyl), Sodium Citrate, Tetrasodium EDTA, FD & C Red No. 4.

The Relax Me Bath Fizzy, also in Pomegranate Mint, is great to use in the bath. The fragrance isn’t as strong as it is in the lotion, but it’s there, and nice, just the same. It leaves your skin feeling soft, and lightly scented. I hadn’t used a fizzy in ages, so this was a wonderful treat. This product contains Sodium Bicarbonate, Citric Acid, Sodium Chloride, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Canola Oil, PEG-160, Fragrance.

The Rub Me Massage Bar came in Coconut Lime. It smells more like lime with a light coconut undertone, and the scent is not overpowering. It looks like a bar of soap, but rubbing this onto your skin causes your body heat to melt it into massage butter and allows you to rub it in for a soothing, relaxing massage. It rubs in well and leaves your skin soft and smooth, as well as scented. The bar contains cocoa butter, shea butter, and fragrance oil.

The Devour Me Pina Colada Lickable Oil comes in an ample bottle, with a small hole in the top so it’s easy to get out a few drops at a time. The oil is light and not greasy, and smells delightfully like the drink. It tastes like coconut and pineapple, although the taste is light and not sweet at all, and doesn't have much of an aftertaste. It washes off (or licks off) easily from the skin.

The Smooch Me Mojito Lip Lube smells like … a Mojito. If you like the smell or taste of the drink, you’ll probably enjoy this one a lot more than if you don’t. The lip lube comes in a tin, so you have to use your finger to transfer it to your lips. It’s smooth, colorless, and not greasy, and really smells for a while, with a light lime taste if you lick it. Lip Lube is all natural and vegan, and contains candelilla wax, sweet almond oil, flavor oils, vitamin E (tocopherol).

This kit also includes the Pearl Drop vibrator to make your Happy Hour complete. This small clitoral vibe is about 4” long and is translucent white in color, with Good Vibrations stamped down the side.

Honestly, I have never had more trouble getting a vibrator open to put in a battery as I did with this vibe! The instructions say “Snap it open”, and try as I might, it wouldn’t come apart. I handed it to my husband, who had just as bad of a time. Finally he gave it a good snap and the pieces came apart. After putting it back together and attempting to open it a few more times, I still have to say it’s frustrating, although it can be done.

It’s a lot of work for minimal results. The 1 AA battery this plastic vibrator runs on produces 1 speed of vibrations, which are moderately low in strength and fairly buzzy. You simply turn the base to turn on the vibe. Don’t turn the base too far though – once it’s on, turning more will turn it off. It is waterproof, so you can take it in the tub while you're relaxing in your fizzy bath.

So, Does it Work? Overall, this is a nice kit! The variety of scents may seem a little odd at first, but they're all tropically based. You won't want to use all of them together, anyways, and you can mix and match them without smelling too much like a basket of fruit. I really loved the pomegranate mint scent - which is funny since this is the scent I would have been least likely to buy. The Mojito was probably my least favorite, even though it did smell a lot like the drink.

The biggest disappointment in this kit was the vibrator. I've never had such a time getting one open to put in batteries! The vibrations for the effort weren't nearly strong enough for me. The vibrator aside, I'd recommend the other products, and this kit is a great way to discover the different scents and goodies that Good Vibrations has to offer in their Body and Massage products.

Recently I got the new Sportsheets Crop Top System. It's a really great way to add variety and also add to your crop collection! The kit comes with a crop shaft and 3 heads that can be used to change up the fun (or coordinate with the rest of your wardrobe for the evening).

The three tops that come in the set are a brown hand, purple heart, and black wide loop. All are made of faux leather, and securely attached to a coupler.

I’ve always wanted to try a pump. I’ve seen them for both full pussy pumping and just for the clit, and they look so intriguing. Pumps are supposed to increase blood flow to the genital area and create a more intense sensation during sex. The reviews on these types of products are less than stellar, so I have put off getting one time and time again. When Good Vibrations offered the Vibrating Pleasure Pump for review, I figured it was time to finally try one out and see how it worked.

The Vibrating Pleasure Pump from Good Vibrations comes in a pink and white box, with a full-sized picture of the product on the front and back. Some product information is on the sides of the box. Inside is the pump, 2 sleeves, 2 small sponges (one is a replacement), and a small paper with instructions.

The Pleasure Pump is designed for external use and to pump the clitoris and surrounding area. It can also be used on the nipples or on a man’s balls. It comes in two colors – I got the smoky black one. The device is 7” long overall, and made of a smoke translucent ABS plastic. The cup at the top is bout 1 1/2" high and 1 1/8” wide. Inside, where this cup attaches to the neck, is where the sponge is folded and placed to prevent any lube from getting inside the unit and damaging the motor.

The neck is flexible, and a button located on the handle controls the speed of the vibration. There are three speeds – low, medium and high, all steady. The vibrations on the highest setting are moderately strong, and the pump is fairly quiet during use, although some background music will help mask the sound.

The batteries are inserted by twisting off the bottom of the unit where the tube is attached. The batteries go in one + side up, and one + side down. Alkaline batteries are recommended.

Two clear TPR sleeves are included. The sleeves are easy to slip over the top of the cup. One sleeve is filled with 10 prickly nubs, while the other has a slight raised bump in the center.

Attached to the unit is a 15” long tube which connects to the black pump. The pump is covered with hearts and has a heart shaped release valve to quickly release the pressure and lessen the suction of the cup.

To use the pump, the sleeve-covered cup goes over the desired area, the bulb is pumped to the desired suction level, and then the vibrations can optionally be turned on for more stimulation.

To clean the Vibrating Pleasure Pump, the sleeve and sponge should first be removed. If necessary, the sponge can be washed and thoroughly dried. The sleeves can be washed in warm water and antibacterial soap. The cylinder shouldn’t be placed under running water – rather it should be dipped, open side down, into water. It can also be wiped with a soap and water cloth and dried.

So, Did It Work? The Vibrating Pleasure Pump is … interesting, and not quite what I expected. The sleeves were easy to put over the cup, and it wasn’t hard to position it over my clit. The first pump of the bulb was, well, wow. It wasn’t a crazy suction, but I could feel it pulling at my clit like when my husband would do it with his mouth. The suction kept up well.

The vibrations I could mostly feel around my clit, but not directly on it, even on high. Every so often I had to pump the bulb again, and I’d get a bit more suction which would tease my clit. I had thought I could pump and release over and over, mimicking a sucking sensation, but the release valve didn’t seem to clear the suction all the way so I’d have to wait for a bit for the suction to ease to pump the bulb. When I did, though, the suction pulled my clit out and …wow, what a sensation.

The pump wasn’t enough to get me off on its own, or even with another toy. It was pleasurable, though, during foreplay sessions as it was quite a tease. And it was…interesting. It worked fairly well on my nipples, but since it’s only a single head you can only do one at a time, and it reminded me too much of a regular breast pump. My husband wouldn’t let it near him, so I don’t know how well it would work on his more intimate parts. I’m not sure how much I really like this yet, or if it will grow on me more, but I’m glad I finally got a chance to try it out.

Sometimes cute is the way to go with sex toys, although I don’t want to sacrifice any power. There are times I like my toys to be more whimsical and fun – don’t we all? The Toyfriends toys looked quite cute, and I was hoping it had the power to match. I was excited to get one to try from Babeland.com .

The Toyfriends come in four different shapes and colors. My Toyfriend, Coney the Rabbit, came in a white box and visible through the front. The box had product information on the back and was easy to open. Inside, Coney rested in a plastic case. Also in the box is a small plastic stand, so you can place Coney’s base in it and stand it upright on your storage shelf.

Coney is pretty cute. It’s a matte black in color, from the tips of the ears to the bottom of te base. It’s made of silicone, and the seamless surface has a soft, smooth, satiny feel to it. The only place Coney isn’t smooth is on the side, where the word “Tickler” is stamped into the body, and on the base where the “No trash” symbol and “CE” are stamped.

Coney looks like a bunny silhouette, but it’s more substantial than one. It’s 7 3/4" tall from tip to bottom. This vibrator is meant to be a clitoral stimulator so there’s no insertable length. The ears are about 3” long, curved on the outside and flat on the inside. The ears can be spread apart and placed on each side of the clitoris during use. For more direct stimulation, Coney’s nose can be used.

The battery compartment is accessed by unscrewing the base. An O-ring sits below the threads to make Coney safe to use in the water. Coney is powered by 2 AAA batteries, which come already included so you can use it right away. The batteries are in the compartment, along with a piece of paper covering the connector. Remove this paper and you’re ready to go.

Coney has 5 vibration modes, which are cycled through by pressing the bottom button. Pressing the button once turns Coney on, and it starts with a steady, high vibration. It’s fairly buzzy and moderately strong. Pressing the button again gives the following settings:

- low and steady vibration
- medium pulsation
- fast pulsation
- very fast pulsation
- high and steady vibration again

To turn off Coney, press and hold the button for about 2 seconds. Coney’s not the quietest vibrator, but he won’t be heard if you’ve got background music or the TV on.

Coney’s made of silicone, and easy to clean. It can be wiped down with a wet cloth and antibacterial soap, or you can use your favorite toy cleaner. It can be patted dry and stored in its original box, in the provided stand, or a toy bag.

So, Did It Work? This is definitely a cute clitoral vibrator. I liked how the ears could be spread apart, but I was even happier it had a nose on it. The ears, while a neat idea, didn’t do enough to stimulate my clit, mostly because the vibration intensity of Coney, while it’s moderately strong, isn’t strong enough for me when the vibrations aren’t directly on top of my clit. The nose worked much better, and although the vibrations could have been stronger, using the nose made Coney work pretty well for a long foreplay session.

I liked that Coney started with the high and steady vibration. Honesty, you could pretty well leave off the low vibration setting for me, but starting right off at high meant I didn’t have to do any cycling at all to find the setting I usually start with. I did like the pulsation patterns on Coney as well – the fast and very fast pulsation settings provided an interesting sensation.

I do love waterproof toys, and Coney worked fine in the tub. Even when submerged for periods of time, no water got into the battery compartment.

A New Year

Happy 2011! It's hard to believe it's here already. Last year seemed to go by in a whirlwind, and I've never felt busier in my life. This year it's time for a fresh start, and also time to make the dreaded New Year's resolutions.

I have a post up on EdenCafe today, called This Year I Resolve... , about the resolutions my husband and I made for the coming year. We have some incentive this year, as we've decided to celebrate our anniversary in Las Vegas and renew our vows, possibly at the same chapel we got married at. That gives us almost the entire year to save, get in shape, and (of course) shop! I plan on having a lot of new clothes, and, of course, shoes to go on the trip. I'm really excited about this, as it will be the first time we've been to Las Vegas in 20 years. I know a lot has changed, and I'm looking forward to seeing what's new.

I have another resolution that isn't on the list. I am going to be getting a domain this year, and one of my resolutions is to have at least one post a week that's just me. Me, typing and rambling, about whatever. Will it be about sex? Likely, but not all the time. I feel like I've gotten out of the groove of writing a bit, and it's time to get back into it now. Will I post every day? Probably not. But there'll be more me on the blog instead of just HNT pictures and reviews. I'm sure you'll let me know if you like it or not.

Foxy, Foxy – What’s It Going to Be?

I love cuffs of all sorts. While I’m probably more partial to separate cuffs that can be linked apart as necessary, on occasion playing with handcuffs can be fun. While I love the look and feel of metal handcuffs, sometimes it’s fun to play more on the softer side. Or at least look that way.

The Foxtails Faux Fur handcuffs are a cute set of cuffs. They come in an easy to open clamshell case. My cuffs came in mink, which describes the color of the fur. The fur is black and somewhat long, and fairly soft to the touch while still feeling like animal fur rather than plush fake furs. It lines the interior of each cuff, while the exterior of the cuffs is black.

Each cuff is 10” long, and since they secure with Velcro are pretty adjustable. The cuffs have an interesting closure, with a double Velcro strap. The first Velcro closure goes on as tight as you need, and then a second closure, with a smoother, shiny black back, goes over the top. This makes them more secure, and also improves the look of the cuff.

These handcuffs have a black plastic D-ring. Each D-ring is connected to a short 1 1/2" long piece of faux leather that’s riveted closed in the center. They seem fairly secure.

If the cuffs need to be cleaned, it’s best to do so with a damp washcloth on the exterior or fur. Hey could be run through the washer on gentle in a laundry bag, but they should never be put in the dryer.

So, Do They Work? I think these cuffs are pretty cute. I like the fur on the inside, as it helps prevent chafing as metal can cause. It’s a touch scratchy, and doesn’t feel quite as soft as real mink, though. I do like the double Velcro closure these have. I think it makes the cuffs look a bit more elegant than just having the Velcro strap showing.

The cuffs seem pretty securely held together, but keep in mind that these are more for light play than heavy restraint. I would have preferred the D-rings be made of metal rather than plastic. I think metal looks better, and there is the possibility of the plastic D-rings breaking if things get a little rough.

My husband thought these were kind of cute as well, and he liked securing my arms both in front of me and behind me. He also found them easy to take off when we were ready for a change in play.

Warm Oil For Cold Nights

Sometimes I like to have a nice, relaxing, romantic evening, complete with massage, incense and candles. I don’t have a lot of massage candles, but I have tried a few, and I’ve found them to be a great way to set the mood as well as provide a warm oil massage, one that both my husband and I enjoy. The new Lelo candles looked different than the ones I had used before, and the scent combinations sounded appealing, so I was happy to get one from Vibrator.com to review this month.

The Lelo Flickering Touch Massage Candle comes nicely packaged in a black box with a green circle that wraps around the sides (although the circle looks white in the picture, it actually isn't). The back of the box has instructions in several languages. Inside the box is the candle and a small warning booklet.

The candle is in a pretty container. It’s a dark, deep blue, almost black glass, with Lelo and the scent imprinted in silver. It’s topped with a silver lid with a plastic knob. The knob matches the color of the circle on the box and relates to the fragrance of the candle. On top of the candle is a foam disk that protects the candle during shipment.

The Lelo Candle comes in three scents: Vanilla and Crème de Cacao, Pomegranate and Black Pepper, and Snow Pear and Cedarwood. I chose the Snow Pear and Cedarwood. I expected a somewhat fruity scent, but it isn’t, really. It’s fresh, with just a hint of pear, and reminds me of an outdoors meadow. It’s not flowery at all, but clean and mild. When burning, the scent fills the room but is not overpowering.

Lelo Flickering Touch Massage Candle is soy-based, and contains soy wax, shea butter, apricot kernel oil, and perfume. It burns fairly slowly. After about 30 minutes, enough of the wax will be melted into an oil and be ready to use. Once the flame is put out, a 30 second wait lets the oil cool slightly, and then it is ready to be poured into your hands or on to an awaiting back. The oil is meant for external use only, and should not be used as a sexual lubricant or with sex toys.

After use, replacing the cap keeps the top of the candle clean. Before using again, the wick should be trimmed to 1/4" before lighting it.

So, Did It Work? I really liked this candle. The color of the container is nice, and you can see the flame flicker through it. As the oil gets lower, the flame is more visible through the container and creates a nice ambiance. While it would have been easier to pour with a spout or a corner, it wasn’t too bad and didn’t make a lot of mess. The oil was easy to wipe off the outside of the container.

While the scent is not what I was expecting, I like how light it is. My husband loves that it doesn’t smell too flowery, and he likes how it smells on both his skin and mine.

The oil is light, and it will soak right in if your skin is very dry. If your skin is not too dry/normal, the oil lasts a while while you work on rubbing it into your partner’s back. We used both our hands and massage stones, and the oil performed well. Once the oil rubbed in, it left our skin with a light scent and made our skin soft and smooth, but not greasy.

One of the kinds of encounters I fantasize about the most is a three-way, with myself and two men. While it’s never something I’d actually do, it’s fun and erotic to think about, watch, and read about for me. When the selections for December came out from the Sexis Naked Reader Book Club, I knew the one I wanted to read was Three-Way (Erotic Stories).

Three-Way is a large oversized paperback published in 2004 by Cleis Press. It has 210 pages, and the type is easy tor read. It contains an introduction by its editor Alison Tyler, as well as an about the authors section, about the editor page, and 19 stories that redefine the three-way.

Alison, who has written over 20 novels and numerous short stories, begins her introduction talking about the first threesomes she had. Her first was at eighteen, although she didn’t actually have sex. Her second was at nineteen with her editor and her editor’s roommate. When putting this collection together, Alison chose some of her favorite ménage a trois stories to include. Some of the stories are classic three-ways, with either two men and a woman or two women and a man. Others are a bit more imaginative in their definition and portrayal, while a few feature group sex.

These stories run the gamut – and when the couplings are classic the participants for the most part all interact instead of focusing their efforts on one of the partners. Some of the encounters are planned, while others are spur of the moment, as in Thomas S. Roche’s “Two Guys and a Girl” which takes place in a porn theater. Two three-ways take place with two participants and a “phone friend”, while in A. J. Stone’s “If You Can Make it There, You Can Make It Anywhere” a cabdriver is the third wheel to a backseat lesbian encounter. There’s even a three-way with a man and his tattooed girl as well as an all-girl orgy.

While some of the stories didn’t do much for me, there were several that stood out:

“Three for the Money” by Marilyn Jane Lewis   Mr. Santos was one of her favorite tricks. They had an interesting relationship, and going to his funeral causes her, now living respectably with a day office job, to reminisce about her relationship with him. What started as simple trysts and anal sex progressed to conversation and finally an engagement with Mr. Santos, a woman he sees, and her. The woman is quite a surprise, but she plays out the tawdry scene in a school girl uniform with Mr. Santos and his woman in a seedy hotel to everyone’s relative satisfaction.

“Endings” by Julia Moore   Daniel and Josh were friends. Daniel was her boyfriend, and Josh her lover. Little did Tasha realize that there was more to fucking each of them until the night she had them both.

“The New Fiancee” by N. T. Morley   Meredith and Phillip are engaged to be married. One night when she returns home from work, she finds his ex-wife Yvanna there. In this master/slave relationship, Meredith finds herself in a wild three-way with the two, and learns of her Master’s plans to introduce her to his other 3 exes.

“All McQueen’s Men” by Alison Tyler   Julissa’s a poker player, and a damned good one. Raymond is sure she’s been unfaithful. She hasn’t been yet, but her poker buddies are up to her raising the stakes. This story is more than a threesome, but great nonetheless.

I preferred the stories that actually involved three people interacting. While the more creative threesomes were interesting and not bad stories, they didn't really seem to fit the theme of the book, and I would have enjoyed reading more actual threesome encounters. Some of the stories I didn't find arousing, but the gems in this collection made the book worthwhile for me.

If you like stories which involve scenarios with more than two participants, you should enjoy this book. Within the nineteen stories, there are sure to be a few that tickle your fancy.

Lately it seems I’ve been getting a lot of realistic dildos. Most of them are generically realistic – not modeled from anyone – but I thought one modeled on a porn star might be more interesting. This is not a dildo for the faint of heart. Shane’s cock is 10” tall (7 1/2" of that are insertable) and the shaft has an impressive 2 1/8” diameter. It’s detailed from the head down the veiny shaft, and even the balls look real. The texture is mild, and is only lightly felt during use. The color is described as chocolate, but it’s a lot lighter than other skin-toned toys I’ve use. It’s firm, yet has a nice flexibility that makes it easy to thrust with.

The suction cup works well, even though Shane’s cock is pretty heavy. If the surface is smooth, like your tiled shower, it will hold this to the wall for hands-free play and maintain a good suction without sliding down the wall. Washing with antibacterial soap and water will cut the scent a bit, but it never quite goes away, and you’ll want to store Shane’s cock away from your other toys (unless they’re made of a similar material) or you’ll transfer the scent to them as well. When used with a lubricant, the odor is much less noticeable. If you’re concerned about this toy being porous, you’ll want to use it with a condom.

Since it is made of UR3, dusting Shane’s cock with a bit of cornstarch after you’ve thoroughly washed it will help keep it from becoming sticky when it’s stored away. Water-based lubricants are recommended.

So, Does It Work? This is a nice dildo. I love the size and feel of it. I prefer a larger size, and Shane’s cock delivers nicely. I like that it’s firm enough to thrust with, even though it’s fairly flexible. It’s filling and feels pretty lifelike when covered with lube.

I also really like the suction cup on this toy. I wasn’t sure when I took it out of the box if it would actually be strong enough to hold this on the shower wall (it’s a pretty heavy cock), but hold it does. I’ll have to see if, over time, the suction cup pulls away from the base, but since it appears to be one piece I think the likelihood of this happening is very low. My husband also found both the suction cup and the balls easy to hold on to when using this on me. He doesn’t care for baseless toys for that reason, and this one helped him keep control.

The only thing I don’t like about Shane’s cock is the smell of the UR3. I wish there was something that could be added to take it away. I love the feel of it, but the smell is something else. Lubricant, even unscented, cuts it way down during use so it’s not very noticeable, but out of the box it’s strong.

Overall, if you’re looking for a good sized dildo that feels real and even has a suction cup for hands-free use, Shane Diesel’s Cock is a good choice.

There’s nothing quite like a spreader bar. I always find myself closing my legs when I think I’ve had enough but my husband doesn’t, and a spreader bar is a great way to keep me open and exposed. I was intrigued by the Spread ‘Em Bar & Cuff Set from Pipedream, so I was happy to review this one for EdenFantasys.

This bar and cuff set is part of Pipedream’s Fetish Fantasy series. It includes a 25” spreader bar, a 12” spreader bar, four adjustable neoprene cuffs, an adjustable collar, and a mask. The collar isn’t listed in the contents or on the cardboard packaging, but it’s included all the same and makes for a nice, complete set.

Everything comes in a black bag which is just over 25” long. The bag has a woven nylon loop on the top that can be used to hang the set on a hook or in your closet out of the way. It also has a nylon handle for easy carrying. The bag zips open, and comes with a lock and 2 keys as well. The lock is a standard suitcase lock – it’s not that hard to open but can provide enough deterrent to keep the contents away from curious eyes.

The long bar just fits in the bag, and can be a bit tricky to insert and remove. It has rubber ends and 1” rings that are attached to a chain running through the bar. The rings swivel a bit, and you can pull each slightly out to allow for some adjustment if the cuffs are clipped to the ends. A ring is also located 8” from each end to which you can attach cuffs or chains.

The short bar is similar in construction, but it has 1 ring set in its center for attachment. Affixed to this ring is a nylon lead that can be extended to a 16” length (to the end of the lobster hook) or shortened to a length of 10”. This lead cannot be removed, unless you decide to cut it off.

The four cuffs are neoprene with a Velcro closure, and each is 2” wide with a swivel lobster hook attached so the cuffs will attach to any of the rings on the bars, or even to each other. The wrist cuffs are 10 1/2" long (with Velcro covering 7 1/2" of the cuff), and the ankle cuffs are 12” long (8 1/2" of Velcro on the cuff). They can be adjusted to a wide range of ankle and wrist sizes and the Velcro keeps the cuffs firmly on.

The matching collar that’s included is 17” long and has a D-ring attached. Velcro covers 14”, so it can be adjusted quite a bit. You can clip the cuffs to the collar or use any lead as necessary.

The blindfold is just a thin piece of satin with an elastic strap. It’s not the most comfortable blindfold but it will do in a pinch, and it does block your vision.

The set is easy to clean. Both the bars and cuffs can be wiped down if necessary with water and dried. The blindfold can be tossed in the washer in a laundry bag and drip-dried or tumbled on low in the dryer.

So, Did It Work? This set is great! I love how versatile it is and how the two bars can be used alone or together to create a different restraint. Cuff and connect ankles to the end of the large bar and wrists to its interior rings, and you are downright helpless. Put on the collar and clip the lead from the short bar to it, attach cuffed wrists to the bar, and your arms are restrained nicely. Want arms restrained behind the back? The small bar works well this way too. The large and small bar can be clipped together with the lead, and although it’s off-center, you are fully restrained and relatively immobile. We tried this every which way: standing, bent over, on hands and knees, and on my back, and it was a lot of fun.

I like how this comes with a matching collar, too – that was a bonus I wasn’t expecting. The blindfold is fine in a pinch, but I have another lightweight one that I keep in the bag. I like the Velcro on the collar and cuffs, too - it makes for a quick release if necessary, but it's also quite secure.

The bag is great – it’s compact and easy to store, and I love that it actually locks. The padlock would be easy to replace with something a little more secure, but this works for our needs just fine.
